Roadfood Eating Tour
While I'm talking about Roadfood, I want to mention that Lori and I have signed up for the 2009 Roadfood Eating Tour in Buffalo and Rochester in September.

It's a whole weekend of touring Roadfood spots in the company of other foodies. I am so excited about this!

Wow, that sounds delightful. I would absolutely love to join you. And in another year, I just might. But I am not going to be able to bring myself to step on a plane in September after coming back to the States in (choke) less than three weeks, then flying out to Charleston SC Labor Day weekend for a cousin's wedding.

I did mention that we got Roadfood on your recommendation? I must've said that sometime. We've only eaten at one place so far, but it was well worth it. And we of course won't have it with us while we're roadtripping from Indianapolis to Albuquerque in a few weeks.

If you have Internet access, you can use the website for your roadtripping. It's differently handy from the book, but also handy.

Dur, it never occurred to me to look for a website. I will definitely do that.

Hmm... the Anchor Bar is, of course, the progenitor of the Buffalo Wing... but Elmo's is much, much better wings than the Anchor, although it looks like they've cut back on their list of sauces - they used to have a garlic Parmesan that was absolutely killer.

Abbott's is a must for frozen custard (although Anderson's in Amherst is also damn tasty - and they have food, too), but there is better BBQ (if not better ambiance) in the Rochester area than the Dino - still, Dino ain't bad at all, and hard to go wrong with. I've never been a fan of the LDR-style steak sandwich (I grew up on cheesesteaks as "steak sandwiches", so I was... nonplussed... the first time I encountered it) but my understanding is they're quite good, and I like the Char Pit's other offerings.

How long are you going to be in WNY?

We're constrained by Lori's schoolteacher schedule, so we'd probably arrive Friday evening and leave Sunday evening.
