While I was in California, I bought (at an education store called The Learning Place) a 12-sided die labeled 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8.

I bought it because it was novel and because it was twenty-five cents, not because I had an immediate use for it.

Do any of y'all happen to know for what purpose this die might have been created? (The salesperson didn't know.)

Failing that, I would welcome ideas for things to do with this die. It could be used as a die in Button Men, I suppose, though I'm not sure it would be helpful to do so. I've also thought of using it for NPCs in Storyteller games, to minimize the variation of 1's and 10s.

It has an mean of 5.5 (the same as a d10) and a variance of 2.5 (much less than the 8.25 of a d10).
