Fantasy Setting Search

http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/dx20020606a is a page about WotC's contest for a new fantasy setting. It starts with a 1-page proposal; 10 winners expand their entries to a 10-page proposal; three of those get to develop that to a 100-page bible for $20,000, and then the big winner gets $100,000. Which is a good chunk of change; even $20,000 is big money in the gaming industry.

Like almost every other geek on the planet, I'm thinking of sending in a proposal for my campaign.

I'm having second thoughts, though. The cool part of my campaign is a gimmick instead of a campaign world. I like to think that it's a cool gimmick, but it's just a gimmick.

So I think it very unlikely that I would even get to round 2. (By comparison, I felt much more optimistic about my entries in the Pillsbury Bake-off contest. I could well be misguided, though.)

On the other hand, it's only a page. The expectation is low, but so is the effort involved...
