(no subject)

So, I generally pride myself on being restrained in my purchasing and buying only things that I really need. It may be less true than I think, but it's at least true enough that I can delude myself into thinking it.

But the iPod shuffle has sent my head spinning. I still don't know what I'll use it for, but I've been delighted by it for 24 hours now.

I found myself thinking about going for a walk, just to listen to the shuffle for a while. (I didn't; it was cold and I had stuff to do.)

I found the reality distortion field kicking in when I put the earphones on. It puts the "insane" in "insanely great".

Conclusion 1: Apple can sell these to almost everyone who is more likely to succumb to impulse-buy temptation than I am.

Conclusion 2: It's a good time to have Apple stock options.
