Nine Inch Nails in GarageBand

Yesterday evening, I read the news that Trent Reznor released Nine Inch Nails' new single, The Hand That Feeds,  as a 70MB stuffed DMG file containing the entire song in GarageBand format.

This is pretty cool. I've liked Nine Inch Nails for a long time, even if I haven't liked recent albums as much as Pretty Hate Machine. And giving consumers the power to fiddle with the music themselves makes things much more interactive.

That was my train of thought last night. Today, I was struck by the following thought:

Given this release, it would take less than five minutes' worth with GarageBand to make a mix in which Trent Reznor sings with the voice of Miss Piggy.

I'm still too stunned by the thought to figure out whether this is good or bad.
